I’ve been a huge fan of the regular Maybelline Baby Lips for years now, they are one of my go-to lip balms. I love the tinted ones, the plain ones, the minty ones, the crystal ones, literally all of them so when I saw that they were coming out with these new crayon-type balms with more pigment to them I got really excited but also a little skeptical. I was skeptical because I wanted to make sure they still were super moisturizing but also give enough colour to them that it actually looks like I have something on my lips.

I bought 5 of the colours (I think there were 7 or 8, but there was a bright purple one that I knew I would literally never wear) that I knew I would wear a lot so that I would really try them out instead of just wearing them once for a more intense look. I started wearing them the day I got them and they are definitely as moisturizing as the regular baby lips which made me and my super dry lips very happy. The colour is actually pretty intense too which I honestly wasn’t really expecting. I did have to reapply this a few times throughout the days I wore them mostly because I found that because they are a balm, they wear off so much faster than a lipstick would. They have a vanilla-cake type of smell which is so common among lip products but I love that scent so that honestly made me a little too happy that it actually smelled good and didn’t have a gross chemical smell.
While having to reapply often can get annoying, it was something I expected because it’s a balm. The main downside I found to this product was that the colour really liked to bleed off of my lips a lot. I would have pink smudges around my lips which was really annoying and would make my look slightly like a clown (really not a look that works for me). That could easily be stopped with a lip liner, but I feel like using a lip liner with a balm would make it way less moisturizing which to me just really defeats the purpose of this.

Overall, it’s a good product. It did remind me a lot of the Revlon Kiss balms, but with a lot more pigmentation. I would highly recommend the shades Toasted Taupe (a really nice everyday nude shade) and Blush Burst (my top fave of these, it’s a gorgeous nude-ish light pink prefect for everyday or when you want a subtler lip look with a bit of colour). I did like the others, but I found with the brighter shades it was way more noticeable when they bled everywhere. They are very moisturizing and for the price point you really can’t go wrong. I can’t remember what I paid for them (and they are surprisingly incredibly hard to find online for Canadian pricing) but I know they are $6.99 USD so probably around $10 CAD.
