Finding foundations that last a long time on oily skin is not an easy task. Most foundations I try melt off my face within hours and do nothing to prevent shine or keep my face looking matte. I’ve tried so many throughout the years and these are the top 5 I’ve tried so far that I highly recommend for anyone with oily skin. This is going to be a long post, but if you struggle to find a foundation that works for oily skin hopefully at least one of these work for you!
L’Oreal Pro Matte
L’Oreal makes amazing foundations. Their Pro Glow foundation has had so many positive reviews and this one does as well for anyone with oily skin. I have never used the pro glow foundation, but with my skin type I know that it wouldn’t work for me and I don’t want any extra glow on my face. This foundation blends like a dream regardless of what you use to apply it and it comes in a squeezy-tube type pf packaging. I apply it by squeezing some on to my face then blending it out and it immediately mattifies my skin and it stays that way for hours. I’ve gone through multiple tubes of this foundation and am constantly reaching for it when I know I’ll be wearing my makeup for a long time or when I know I’ll be extra oily that day if it’s very hot out. The fact that this is a drugstore foundation is amazing and I find that it performs better than many high end foundations I’ve tried before. Maybelline Fit Me Matte and Poreless
All over the internet you can find reviews of this foundation and you can see how many people love it. To be honest, this foundation is completely worth the hype. One of the most amazing parts of this foundation is the shade range. Whether you are very fair like me or have a very deep skin tone, you will be able to find a shade that works for you with this foundation. I have used it in a variety of shades and the formula is consistent throughout all of the shades. This foundation lasts for hours before needing any touch-ups and keeps my skin looking matte and blurs the look of my giant pores around my nose. I find that this does need a lot to really have the full coverage I like but it is easy to build up to that level of coverage. I find that this foundation looks best on my skin when I apply it with a sponge (usually my beauty blender). The only real downside to this foundation is that it does not come with a pump so you can easily waste a lot of the product, but it’s something I can definitely look past and I will continue to repurchase this foundation as long as my skin stays this oily. Revlon Color Stay
This foundation is one of my ride or die all time favourite foundations. I’ve gone through over 5 bottles of it at this point and I will continue to repurchase it forever. It’s very lightweight while still having a medium yet buildable to full coverage finish. No matter how hot it is or how long I’m wearing it, this foundation will last all day without getting patchy or looking cakey. It does wear off a little around my nose (where I’m very oily) but it takes hours for that to happen and I need to do barely any touch ups throughout the day. I love that this foundation comes with a pump so that I don’t waste any and can control how much I use (I use about 2 pumps unless I need really heavy coverage). No matter what I use to apply this foundation, it looks amazing on my skin but I do prefer to use my Sigma F80 Flat Kabuki Brush. If you have combination/oily or oily skin I cannot recommend this foundation enough. Kat Von D Lock It Foundation
This is a thicker foundation than any of the ones I have mentioned so far but it works amazingly. This does not move for over 6 hours on my very oily face and I only have to blot around my nose and it still looks amazing. I find that this applies best on my skin when I use a sponge (usually my beauty blender) and doesn’t look thick or cakey at all on my skin. The coverage on this foundation is definitely full coverage but I love foundations like that and it covered everything and I find that I don’t need to use concealer as well as this foundation. I honestly was not expecting to love this foundation as much as I do. I haven’t been using it as much in the past few summer months since I haven’t wanted as much coverage, but as soon as fall hits I will be back to using this foundation almost everyday. I love that this foundation has a pump and a clear container so that I don’t waste much and can see how much I have left. I don’t think this would be a great foundation for anyone with dry skin but for combination/oily or oily skin if you want a heavier and more intense coverage foundation, this one is amazing. Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-hour Full Coverage Foundation
Similar to the Kat Von D foundation, I find that this is a rather think foundation but it applies amazingly with a sponge. I had never heard anything about this foundation until my sister (who wears next to no makeup and doesn’t know much about makeup either) told me I had to try it because she is obsessed with it. I don’t know why I have never heard anything about it because this foundation is completely amazing. It lasts for hours and makes my skin look matte without drying it out at all. It doesn’t melt off when my skin starts getting oily and instead you can just see a bit of shine around my nose and all I have to do is blot and it’s back to looking amazing. It is medium-heavy coverage and I find that I don’t need a lot of it to get the coverage I want out of it. For the past few months anytime I want a more full-glam look and heavy coverage, this foundation has been what I immediately reach for. I cannot get past how amazing this foundation is and I cannot recommend it enough. It is pricier than any of the drugstore foundations I have mentioned in this post but it is completely worth it. I’m not sure how it would work for dry skin but for normal, combination/oily, or oily skin it is amazing.
